Tesla has unveiled the facelifted version of its popular Model Y (codenamed Juniper) in certain Asian regions, showcasing a bold new design inspired by the Cybertruck. The refreshed electric SUV features a more angular front end, echoing the futuristic style of Tesla’s highly popular pickup truck. Along with the striking aesthetic changes, the updated Model Y boasts an impressive driving range of 719 km on a single charge, further enhancing its appeal in the growing electric vehicle market. The facelifted Model Y is expected to bring more advanced technology, improved performance, and increased efficiency, strengthening its position as one of the top electric SUVs globally. This new version of the Model Y is creating significant buzz in international markets.
Tesla Model Y Facelift: Battery and Range Details
Currently, only the Long Range AWD and RWD variants have received updates. The claimed ranges according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) are 719km for the AWD model and 662km for the RWD model, reflecting improvements of 117km and 59km, respectively, over the previous-generation version.

The acceleration time from 0 to 100km/h has also been shortened by 0.5 seconds, with the AWD model reaching the speed in 4.3 seconds, and the single-motor version doing so in 5.9 seconds. The maximum charging speed stays at 250kW, allowing for a 266km range gain in 15 minutes.
Tesla Model Y Facelift: Colour Options and Design Cues
The Tesla Model Y is available in five exciting paint jobs. In Australia, these are Ultra Red, Glacier Blue (newly introduced), Stealth Grey, Quicksilver, and Pearl White Multi-Coat. In China, the options are largely the same, though with minor name variations.
While the new Model Y maintains its overall size and shape, it features a significant redesign. The bumpers have been reworked to lower the drag coefficient to 0.22 Cd, down from the pre-facelift model’s 0.23 Cd. At the rear, a ducktail spoiler is added, paired with a more athletic diffuser. The front now includes sleek, narrow headlights linked by a light strip across the hood. At the back, the Model 3's taillights are connected with a red light bar. The front bumper also gets a new look with updated air vents, rounding out the major design changes. Additional updates include side mirror turn signals and a front bumper camera. These updates align with design features seen in Tesla’s Cybertruck and Cybercab. Customers can choose between 19-inch black wheels or 20-inch silver wheels. Tesla Model Y Facelift: What's Inside?
The interior continues with its sleek, futuristic look but now includes a larger 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with narrower bezels. New features come in the form of an 8-inch display for rear passengers, ventilated front seats, as well as a reworked steering wheel. Furthermore, the traditional turn signal stalk has replaced the previous steering wheel buttons, returning to a more conventional design.

The second-row seating has been made roomier, while the boot space has expanded by 100 litres, offering 2,130 litres when the seats are folded. Deliveries of the facelifted Model Y are set to start in May 2025 in regions where it has already been announced, including China, New Zealand, and Australia. However, the release dates for Europe and the U.S. markets are yet to be disclosed.
