The Tiago and the Tigor, with their various engine options ranging from—petrol, to electric, and CNG—have been an essential part of the Tata Motors portfolio in India. These two Tata CNG vehicles currently only come with manual gearboxes. To increase sales and provide customers with more options, the company intends to combine these CNG models with an automatic transmission. Unquestionably, CNG cars have been more practical over the past few years, offering almost all of the comfort amenities available in their most expensive petrol models. With the introduction of the Tiago and Tigor models with automatic gearboxes, Tata Motors is set to enhance the value of CNG vehicles in India. The carmaker hasn't made a formal announcement, but a 5-speed AMT is anticipated for the upcoming versions. The current starting prices of the Tata Tiago and Tigor are Rs 5.60 lakh and Rs 6.30 lakh, respectively. We anticipate a minor increase in these prices with the addition of an automatic transmission. To learn more about these iterations, let's take a quick look.

Tata Tiago, Tigor: Mechanical Specifications

Both the vehicles feature a 1.2-litre petrol engine with 85bhp and 113Nm, and two gearbox options—a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic. However, in CNG mode, these vehicles have lower outputs of 72bhp and 95Nm, mated to only a five-speed manual gearbox. Though no specifics have been revealed by the carmaker, the top-end XT and XZ+ models are expected to receive this most significant improvement.
