Tata Tiago, Tigor CNG Automatic Variants Bookings Commence for Rs 21,000 Ahead of India Launch

Tata is all set to become the first carmaker in India to offer the combination of a CNG drivetrain and an automated transmission. The upcoming Tiago and Tigor CNG AMT variants are expected to be priced higher than their conventional counterparts.

Tata Motors has announced that it is now accepting bookings for the upcoming automatic versions of its Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG cars. These models can be reserved online and offline by paying a token of Rs 21,000. The Tiago CNG with an automatic transmission is available in three variants (XTA, XZA+, and XZA NRG), whereas the Tigor CNG AMT comes in two variants (XZA CNG and XZA+ CNG). Additionally, the homegrown automotive manufacturer has introduced new paint options for its models such as the Tiago, the Tiago NRG, and the Tigor. The Tiago is now available in Tornado Blue paint, while the Tiago NRG can be purchased in Grassland Beige. The Tigor comes in a new Meteor Bronze colour. Now that reservations for the first-ever CNG vehicles with automatic transmissions have opened in India, let's take a close look at the key characteristics of these vehicles.

Tata Tiago, Tigor CNG AMT: Mechanical Details 

The Tiago and Tigor models are powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 85bhp and 113Nm. With this, you can choose between a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. However, If you opt for compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel, the same engine delivers lower output figures of 72bhp and 95Nm. The CNG variants are only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but Tata Motors now offers a 5-speed AMT as an option. This new transmission has been calibrated specifically to enhance low-speed driveability when maneuvering in tight spaces or dealing with stop-and-go traffic.

Tata Tiago, Tigor CNG AMT: Other Key Details

Compared to other CNG vehicles, the Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG models' segment-first dual-cylinder layout provides additional cargo space. These CNG vehicles also have an eight-speaker setup, auto air conditioning, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a semi-digital instrument cluster. A rear parking camera with sensors, a rear defogger, a tyre pressure monitor, and dual front airbags are part of its safety features. Price-wise, a significant premium is expected for the Tata Tigor and the Tiago CNG AMT versions.

Tata Motors believes that the Tiago and Tigor cars are popular due to their various powertrain options, attractive styling, excellent safety features, spacious interiors, and innovative technology integration.
