The Tata Tiago and the Tata Tigor will soon be offered with CNG. The two cars are mainly targeted towards buyers who opt for CNG variants of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Hyundai Aura and Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
Tata Motors has confirmed that the CNG variants of the Tiago and Tigor will debut on January 19, 2022. The changes are likely to be only limited to the bi-fueling and the cosmetics and the features are expected to be identical to the respective outgoing models.
The engine will be the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit which will be mated to a five-speed transmission. It is too soon to confirm if Tata will offer the Tiago and Tigor CNG variants with an AMT. The power out is likely to take a hit as the engine will have to be re-tuned for secondary fuel.
The Tata Tiago will mainly rival the CNG variants of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The price of the outgoing petrol Tata Tiago starts at Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom). The CNG hatchback is likely to ask for a premium of Rs. 70,000-80,000 depending on the variant.
The Tigor CNG is mainly targeted towards the Hyundai Aura CNG which is priced at Rs. 7.67 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tigor CNG is expected with a price tag between Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 7 lakh (ex-showroom).
