Tata’s much awaited compact SUV can now be booked across India.
Tata Motors dealers across the country have started accepting bookings for their upcoming compact SUV - the Nexon. The Tata Nexon can now be booked at a refundable amount of Rs. 11,000.
The styling of the Tata Nexon is based on Tata’s IMPACT design language and features the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine from Tigor and Tiago, but in a turbocharged state of tune. There is also a new Revotorq 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. Both the powertrains have an output of 109bhp and will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Nexon will come equipped with the first in class driving modes in both petrol and diesel versions. The three modes – City, Sport and Eco, will differently adjust the throttle response to better suit the driving environment.
The Interiors draw a lot of inspiration from premium segment, and get some luxury-grade touches – like the sliding tambour door for the centre console. A fully loaded infotainment system, co-developed by HARMAN covers all the essential connectivity options you’d expect in 2017. It comes mated to 8 speakers to keep you entertained.
Most of Tata’s recent compact cars have been priced pretty well, and you can expect the Nexon to follow the same route. Tata has put in a lot of time and resources into the Nexon, and so they’d not want it to flop because of bad pricing. Expect the Nexon’s starting price to undercut both of its core rivals – Vitara Brezza and EcoSport, when it is launched.
In the meantime, autoX has already driven the Nexon and came away quite impressed with it. You can read our first drive review here.
