Tata Motors has finally announced the prices for the eagerly-awaited Safari in India today, following its debut on October 6. The price of the 2023 Safari starts at Rs 16.19 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 25.49 lakh in India. However, for the Dark Variant, the price begins at Rs 20.69 lakh. These are all ex-showroom figures. A number of significant visual, internal, and technical changes have been made to the new Safari. The front and back bumpers, along with alloy wheels have been revised. Additionally, the smaller accents and broader central AC vents have been added to the dashboard. The Safari's dimensions have risen with the update, and it is now 4,668mm long, 1,922mm broad without the ORVM, and 1,795mm tall. The wheelbase, though, stays unchanged at 2,741mm.

Since its initial introduction in 2021, the homegrown automaker has introduced various versions of the Safari in our market. The initial version was the Adventure Persona, followed by several others, including the Dark edition, the Kaziranga edition, the Jet edition, the Gold edition, and, most recently, the Red Dark edition. Some variants only have cosmetic enhancements, but others include considerable practical improvements. After a long anticipation, Tata Motors has finally announced a significant redesign for the Safari. Now that the prices for the 2023 model have been released for our market, let's have a look at the significant alterations to the SUV.

The linked daytime running lights and body-coloured components on the grille give the SUV a new frontal look. The bumper has been modified by Tata Motors with LED projector headlights and LED fog lamps. Also, a functional vent in the bumper aids in aerodynamic efficiency. Aside from the new alloy wheel design, the side hasn't changed much. The SUV's Smart and Pure models have 18-inch alloy wheels, while the Accomplished and Dark models have 19-inch wheels. Following that, the back of the SUV receives new taillight artwork and a bumper.

Every Safari version has its own theme and style on the inside. The Smart/Pure variations have grey upholstery, whereas the Adventure variants have a chocolate brown theme. The higher-spec Accomplished versions, on the other hand, feature a white-grey dual-tone paint job. In addition, the Dark version sports an all-black cabin.

The dashboard layout of the SUV has been altered featuring slender accents and broader central AC vents. Furthermore, a gloss black panel beneath it houses the contemporary touch panel for climate control and other car amenities. Inside, the SUV also harbours an illuminated logo, a four-spoke steering wheel, and backlit switches that regulate music/calls and the instrument cluster. Similar to the new Harrier, the Safari also gets a sizable 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a redesigned gear lever with a mode selector dial, a 10-speaker JBL system, an air purifier, a 360-degree surround camera, powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, and more.

The new Safari comes in seven exterior colours: Lunar Slate, Oberon Black, Cosmic Gold, Galactic Sapphire, Stardust Ash, Stellar Frost, and Supernova Copper, as well as five variants: Smart, Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Dark.

Tata Safari Facelift: Safety Suite

The SUV includes Electronic Stability Control, six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts, and other features as standard. The top-of-the-line models include an additional driver knee airbag. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is available on the Adventure+ A, Accomplished+, and Accomplished+ Dark models. While no formal confirmation has been provided, Tata Motors is expected to offer lane centering and lane keep assist as software updates in the future. The new Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs have received the highest Global NCAP rating for adult and child occupant safety, which is a notable achievement in this aspect.

Tata Safari Facelift: Engine

On a mechanical level, the SUV hasn't changed at all. It is still powered by the same 2-litre diesel engine that produces 168bhp and 350Nm with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Tata Motors provides paddle shifters with the automatic variant.
