The upcoming Punch EV from the house of Tata Motors has been spied on being tested, yet again. The Tata Punch EV was spotted for the first time a few weeks back, and it got us speculating that it should launch in the Indian market somewhere in October 2023. The micro SUV is expected to take on the likes of the Citroen eC3 and the MG Comet. In a fresh set of spy images, the electric version of the Punch SUV reveals some new details, both exterior- and interior-wise.
Going by the latest spy images, the Punch EV will feature new five-spoke alloy wheels for improved aerodynamics and rear disc brakes. Other than that, the car will remain largely the same as its ICE-powered counterpart, including projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, square wheel arches, signature humanity line, roof rails, 90-degree opening doors, and more.

Tata Punch EV: What Else to Expect?
While on the inside, the upcoming Punch SUV is likely to come with a new two-spoke steering wheel, first seen on the Curvv concept SUV and then on the test mules of the upcoming Nexon facelift. The steering wheel will bear haptic touch controls and an illuminated logo in the centre. Aside from these, the Punch EV will include a rotary dial selector, an electronic parking brake as on the Nexon EV Max, blue accents for the AC vents, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, iRA connectivity tech, etc.
A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system can be seen in these latest spy images, however, the carmaker is expected to change it to a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, which is available with the recently introduced Dark edition of the Nexon EV Max.
Tata Punch EV: Underpinnings, Drivetrain
The GEN 2 (SIGMA) platform, which is essentially a heavily modified version of the ALFA architecture, will serve as its foundation. This platform will have a flat floor to accommodate a sizable battery pack and will be designed for electrification. In terms of powertrain, expect the Tata Punch EV to come equipped with Ziptron technology, which also powers the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV. However, there are no exact details about the powertrain specifications.
As for the battery, the company could offer multiple battery packs with different ranges. The 24kWh battery pack with an MIDC-certified range of 315km from the Tiago EV and the 30.2kWh battery pack from the Nexon EV could both be used to power the small SUV. There is no concrete update on the range as well, but rumours say that the EV may have a driving range between 250 to 300 Kilometre on a full charge.
