Tata Motors will launch the CNG variants of the Punch and the Altroz in India by June 2023. They were showcased alongside the upcoming Harrier EV, Sierra EV, Curvv Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Altroz Racer, and more at the Auto Expo 2023. The carmaker is striving to modify CNG kits offered on vehicles in India. Hence, it will bring its upcoming CNG models - the Altroz and the Punch with a split-cylinder-tank setup. The split-tank setup will give a usable boot space to the CNG owners, according to the firm. The accurate amount of luggage space for the upcoming CNG versions hasn't been disclosed by Tata, though. However, the boot space for the standard Altroz and the Punch, stands at 345 litre and 366 litre, respectively. Tata is most likely to offer the CNG kit on the mid-and higher-spec trims of the Punch and the Altroz.
Speaking of the powertrain, the iCNG versions will come equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that can produce 84bhp of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque. The motor's output in CNG mode, on the other hand, will be 76bhp and 97Nm. Both CNG variants will get twin cylinders to store CNG.
