Tata Nexon vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza Spec Comparison: Which SUV Should You Buy?
Priced between Rs 8.10 lakh and Rs 15.50 lakh, the Tata Nexon facelift gets exterior/interior design improvements, a few tweaks to the mechanicals, as well as new features. It goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which retails between Rs 8.29 lakh and Rs 13.98 lakh.
Tata Motors launched the facelifted version of the best-selling SUV, the Nexon, last week at an introductory price of Rs 8.10 lakh(ex-showroom) in India. The Nexon facelift is part of the fiercely competitive compact-SUV segment and goes up against the likes of the Kia Sonet, the Mahindra XUV300, the Hyundai Venue, and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. In this article, we compare the Nexon with one of its primary rivals, the Brezza, to see how it stacks up in terms of powertrains, specifications, size, as well as prices.
Tata Nexon vs. Maruti Suzuki Brezza: Engine and Output
The recently launched Tata Nexon facelift comes with two engine options – a 1.5-litre diesel engine churning out 113bhp and 260Nm of peak torque and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol mill, which generates 118bhp and 170Nm. On offer are 4 transmission options with the turbo-petrol unit – a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed DCT, while the diesel version can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT.
Unlike the Nexon, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza gets a single powertrain setup – a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 102bhp and 137Nm, but with the K15C's dual-jet technology (two injectors per cylinder). The petrol version also comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox (replacing the previous 4-speed unit in the automatic form); however, the CNG variant only gets a 5-speed manual transmission. The mild hybrid technology is now standard on all manual and automatic variants.
