Tata Motors has launched the much-anticipated Nexon and Nexon EV Dark Editions. These editions continue the phenomenal popularity of the pre-facelift models with an eye-catching blacked-out design. Price-wise, the Tata Nexon EV Dark Edition asks for Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Nexon Dark Edition is priced at Rs 11.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Both editions come with significant cosmetic changes over their standard counterparts, hence the higher price tags.
Tata Nexon Dark
With its sculpted hood, sleek LED lighting, and dynamic stance, the new Nexon Dark Edition radiates an aggressive and daring SUV flair. Its exterior appearance is nothing short of spectacular. The stunning dark exterior finish and distinctive Dark mascot further highlight this unusual appearance.
The interior of the Nexon Dark is designed to be the focal point, with its exclusive all-black styling and opulent materials. Black leatherette seats with dark badging embroidered on the headrests enhance the interior vibe.
Under the hood, the Nexon Dark Edition's powertrain options haven't altered. You can choose between a 6-speed manual, AMT, or DCT gearbox with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine producing 87bhp and 170Nm of torque. In addition, you can also choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox or an AMT with the 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 84.5bhp and 260Nm of torque.
When it comes to electric vehicles, the Long-Range type is the only one available on the Nexon EV Dark Edition. This electric version uses a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor to provide 215Nm of torque and 143bhp. The motor draws power from a 40.5kWh battery, offering a 465km claimed range.
Tata Harrier Dark and Safari Dark
Moreover, Tata has also launched the Harrier and Safari Dark Edition, priced at Rs 20.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. They include a plethora of high-tech additions made to improve the ride quality for everyone. An extra knee airbag for the driver, LED daytime running lights, and an iconic animation that plays when you get in and out are all noteworthy upgrades that improve safety. The addition of 10 JBL speakers equipped with Advanced Harman AudioworX elevates the listening experience to a whole new level. The R19 Alloy wheels with Aero inserts and a stunning Piano Black grille are aesthetic upgrades for these vehicles.
Both vehicles are designed with comfort and convenience in mind. They come with fully automatic dual-zone climate control, a central control panel that can be touched to perform multiple functions, and leatherette seats that are adorned with the Dark emblem on the headrests. Featuring bold Oberon Black exteriors and a Blackstone theme inside, these SUVs are sleek and edgy.
The engines of both Tata models are 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel, and they come with either a manual or automatic 6-speed transmission. With 168 bhp and 350Nm of torque, respectively, it is an amazing machine. With an improved suspension system and three terrain response modes—Normal, Rough, and Wet—these models come with three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport.
To satisfy the needs of more demanding consumers, Tata Motors has promised the arrival of a 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine (168bhp/280Nm) at a later stage.
