The battle for dominance in the CNG segment intensifies as Tata Motors introduces the Nexon iCNG, challenging the well-established Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. Both compact SUVs offer eco-friendly alternatives to petrol and diesel, but each comes with its own set of features and specifications. The comparison between these two models will highlight differences in performance, fuel efficiency, features, and pricing. While Tata's Nexon iCNG is known for its robust build and safety features, the Brezza CNG boasts Maruti Suzuki’s long-standing reputation for reliable CNG vehicles. As more buyers seek cleaner, more cost-efficient options, this comparison will explore which of these two SUVs delivers the best value and driving experience in the competitive CNG space.

Tata Nexon iCNG vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG Spec Comparison: Price

Starting with the price factor, the newly launched Nexon iCNG is priced between Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 14.59 lakh. Meanwhile, the price of the Brezza's CNG variant starts at Rs 9.29 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.25 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures.

The Tata Nexon iCNG measures around 3,995mm in length, 1,804mm in width, and 1,620mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,489mm. On the other hand, while the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG has the same length as the Tata model at 3,995mm, it has a width of 1,790mm and height of 1,685mm, featuring a wheelbase of 2,500mm. The Brezza offers a taller stance, while the Nexon is wider. Both vehicles come with standard 16-inch wheels, but the Nexon features slightly narrower tyres on its lower variants.

Coming to the mechanical side of things, the Nexon iCNG is equipped with a 1.2-litre turbocharged bi-fuel engine (compatible with both petrol and CNG), producing 99bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. Currently, it is offered with a manual transmission, though an automatic option may be introduced later. The SUV features a direct start in CNG mode and is powered by a single ECU that allows seamless switching between petrol and CNG. It comes with a 60-litre CNG tank and is claimed to deliver a 24km/kg mileage.

On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is propelled by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine, putting out 137Nm of peak torque and 102bhp of maximum power in the petrol version. The same engine delivers 121Nm of torque and 87bhp of power in the CNG variant. The Brezza CNG is only available with a five-speed manual transmission, while the petrol variant offers a choice between a six-speed automatic or five-speed manual gearbox. The CNG model also boasts a 25.51km/kg fuel efficiency.

The 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, leatherette ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen are just a few of the amenities of the Tata Nexon iCNG. With its twin-cylinder technology, the car has a 321-litre boot – the largest in the segment.

In terms of features, the top-spec Brezza CNG is packed with an electric sunroof and a 7.0-inch Smartplay Pro touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and connected car technology. Safety features include ESP, a hill hold assist, dual front airbags, a rear parking camera, reverse parking sensors, and ABS with EBD. The hill hold assist ensures the car doesn’t roll back on slopes, while ESP helps maintain stability during sudden manoeuvers, preventing loss of control.
