A test mule of the Tata Nexon facelift has once again been spied on public roads. While the launch of the compact SUV may still not be close, the test mule has made a few things abundantly clear. For starters, the front end of the Nexon will follow Tata’s latest design language, which is also seen on the Punch SUV. The headlamp cluster has been shifted lower on the bumper, and the grille seems to flow seamlessly into the DRLs above the headlights.
While the test mule in question was an internal-combustion model, it had what looked like aero wheels, which are alloy wheels with a particular style that creates less drag compared to other designs. They are usually found on EVs. Now, we know that the Nexon we see in the pictures will spawn an EV, but the fact that Tata is testing the ICE model with aero wheels means they could end up on the petrol and diesel versions of the SUV as well.
The ORVMs and the taillight design are the other bits that immediately stand out. The former seems to follow a similar shape as before, but it seems that they have been horizontally lengthened to increase the glass area. The taillights, while only scarcely visible, look much sleeker than the current model, and they seem to extend onto the boot as well. Tata also seems to have given the rear wiper a miss, something which is suggested by all the spy shots that we have come across so far.

While the interior of the test mule was not visible, it’s safe to say that it will receive an update as well. The most significant change will have to be the touchscreen setup in the Nexon. We have already seen the latest Tata touchscreen on the Nexon EV Max Dark Edition, which may become a standard piece of equipment in the higher variants of the upcoming Nexon facelift. Tata may rework the instrument cluster and add some new touches to the Nexon-facelift’s interior as well, but we will have to wait to find that out for sure.
In terms of powertrains, we are not expecting big changes. It is likely to continue with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, both available with a manual and an automatic transmission. However, the power figures may increase. The price will most likely increase by anywhere between Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000, given that the Nexon facelift will get new features, such as the touchscreen.
