Global NCAP has awarded the all-new Tata Nexon with an exemplary 5-star safety rating in its latest round of crash tests. The SUV obtained 32.22 out of 34 points for adult protection as well as 44.52 out of 49 for child protection. Interestingly, the first generation Nexon was the first Indian car that won a perfect score of five stars from the GNCAP crash test in 2018. The refreshed Nexon showed good all-around protection for the front adult occupants, in addition to adequate chest protection, in both the frontal offset crash test as well as the barrier assessment. In the side pole impact evaluation, curtain airbags are standard equipment and fulfil fitment requirements; offering good protection for the head, and pelvis, marginal protection for the chest, and sufficient protection for the abdomen.
Employing the anchorages along with a support leg, the child seats for the 3-year-old and the 18-month-old were positioned looking rearward. The child's head was shielded adequately from injury during the frontal impact in both scenarios. Additionally, the CRS provided for both rendered complete protection in the side impact crash assessment.
It's worth noting that the all-new Nexon has a substantially higher child occupancy score than its predecessor. In terms of child passenger safety, the Nexon received a 3-star rating in 2018. For the 2023 Nexon, Global NCAP stated that the model meets the UN127 and GTR9 pedestrian protection criteria.
With the most recent makeover, the Nexon has gained multiple features in different aspects. However, specifically in safety, the Tata SUV has received ESC, ISOFIX anchors, and six airbags among others, as standard equipment.
