Tata Motors will be increasing the appeal of its popular Nexon with the introduction of AMT automatic versions later in the year.
Tata at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo has showcased a new AMT version of its Nexon compact SUV. Ever since its launch in September of 2017, the Tata Nexon has been selling well with the sales graph heading north. And this is a good thing, as the Nexon truly feels like a new age Tata vehicle. It has a very smooth and responsive diesel powertrain, which is the company’s own new 1.5 litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. And the six-speed manual gearbox is light to operate as well. In fact, it has to be said that the Nexon diesel is far more refined than the segment leading Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. And because the Nexon also has a petrol option, it can appeal to a wider customer base too with its 1.2 litre, turbo petrol engine, which also comes with a manual gearbox.
The homegrown car maker is now all set to increase the appeal of its Nexon with the introduction of AMT automatic versions that will definitely go well in a market that is increasingly appreciating the new age of efficient and affordable automatic cars, courtesy of automated-manual transmissions. Tata Motors is expected to avail both the petrol and diesel models of the Nexon with AMT auto boxes.
This means that both versions will continue to be as fuel efficient as their manual counterparts, with the diesel manual offering 23.97 km/l and the petrol 17.88 km/l, both as per ARAI. And like the manual models, the Nexon AMT too will come with different driving modes, namely, Eco, City and Sport.
Expect Tata Motors to price the AMT automatic variants of the Nexon at a premium of around Rs. 50,000 over its manual equivalents.
