As electric vehicles continue to gain popularity in India, here's how Tata Motors performed in July.
Tata Motors clocked an impressive 57% year-on-year increase in its passenger vehicle sales in July. The company sold 47,705 vehicles last month as compared to the 30,185 units it sold in the same month last year. In total, the company sold 81,790 vehicles in July, including commercial vehicles and export units.
It is to be noted that last month the company also recorded the biggest jump in the passenger electric vehicle segment. A total of 4.022 units of the Nexon EV and Tigor EV in India. This reflected a growth of 566% as compared to the 604 units it sold in the same month last year. In the passenger vehicle segment, electric vehicles contributed to more than 8% of the company’s sales.
The company’s electric vehicle sales also denoted a significant betterment over June when it sold 3,507 units. The homegrown carmaker has been the leader in the passenger electric vehicle segment with over 80% market share. The carmaker concluded the first quarter of the previous financial year with 9,300 EVs. The same number has gone up to more than 13,000 units in the current financial year.
In terms of commercial vehicle sales, the company recorded a healthy increase of 43% in July. The company sold 34,154 units last month, as against the 23,848 units it sold in the same month last year.
