At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors showcased the Red Dark editions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs. These SUVs have some extra features, which are already offered by their major rivals and which Indian buyers have been eagerly waiting for. The carmaker has now confirmed that these editions will be available this year by the end of March. Both the Tata Harrier Red Dark Edition and Safari Red Dark Edition feature 'Red' badging to distinguish them from the Dark Editions of these two SUVs, which are currently on sale in India. The Red Dark Editions, like the Dark Editions, have an all-black exterior, finished in a shade called 'Oberon Black'. They feature 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, and red accents on the front grille. While these are the only changes visible from the outside, major changes can be found inside the cabin. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are standard on Red Dark Edition models. The cars will compete with the Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector, both of which are already on sale in India.

With autonomous emergency braking, forward and rear collision alerts, rear cross-traffic warning, blind spot assistance, traffic sign recognition, and lane departure and lane change warnings, the Tata Harrier ADAS and the Safari ADAS now have more safety features. Additionally, the two Red Dark Edition vehicles have upgraded ESP and a total of 6 airbags.

The larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system is also available for the Tata Harrier and Safari Red Dark Editions. The two SUVs also come equipped with a 360-degree camera, a fully digital instrument panel, and a 9-speaker JBL audio system. The seats are wrapped in 'Carnelian' red upholstery and have a quilted design. The red colour scheme extends to the grab handles, and the driver seat is adjustable with memory and ventilation functions. The dashboard is finished contrasting grey, and the steering wheel has piano black inserts. The Tata Safari Red Dark Edition distinguishes itself from the Harrier Red Dark Edition by featuring a powered front seat with Boss mode, ventilation for the second row of seats, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting on the doors and along the edges of the panoramic sunroof.

The two SUVs have not undergone any mechanical changes and are powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 168bhp of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque. Both models come with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, in order to comply with new BS6 RDE norms, the engine has been updated. The Harrier Red Dark Edition is fitted with all-wheel disc brakes. The Tata Harrier SUV currently costs between Rs 14.80 lakh and Rs 22.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Safari's price, on the other hand, ranges between Rs 15.45 lakh and Rs 23.76 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch will take place in March 2023. These new editions will sit atop the current Harrier and the Safari line-up.
