Tata Harrier EV Concept to be Showcased at Bharat Mobility Show 2024, India Launch Likely This Year

The new Harrier EV will be based on Tata's Gen 2 EV architecture, acti.ev, which also underpins the newly launched Tata Punch.ev.

Tata Motors will showcase its new Harrier EV Concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 tomorrow, that is, February 1, 2024. The inaugural event is scheduled to take place till February 3 at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre, New Delhi. Although official details are awaited, the production-spec Tata Harrier EV will likely go on sale later this year in India. To refresh your memory, the Tata Harrier EV concept was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023, along with the Curvv ICE concept, the Avinya concept, and the Sierra EV concept.

The Harrier EV will be based on Tata's Gen 2 EV architecture, acti.ev, which also underpins the newly launched Tata Punch.ev. The new architecture, in combination with the Omega platform used by the internal combustion engine-powered SUV, will incorporate an all-wheel-drive setup and cabin modifications.

Tata Harrier EV Concept: Design

Design-wise, the Tata Harrier EV looks nearly identical to the ICE Harrier SUV; however, it does get some EV-specific elements to make it stand out. Up front, the EV gets a blanked-off grille, the same split headlight setup housing a new set of DRLs, and a reworked bumper with new creases.

In profile, the EV sports distinctive alloy wheels, flush door handles, and ‘.EV’ badging on the fenders. At the rear, it has a redesigned bumper, linked LED tail lamps, and a new LED light bar.

On the inside, expect the five-seater Harrier EV to feature a large touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology and OTA updates. Other bits will include ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and a 360-degree camera for safety.  

Tata Harrier EV Concept: Drivetrain

At the moment, the automaker offers no technical details. However, we do know that the new Harrier electric SUV will come with a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. As for its battery, expect the SUV to come equipped with a 60kWh battery pack, yielding a range of 400 to 500 kilometres. 

Moreover, the Tata Harrier EV will also offer convenience features and technologies, such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V). 

Tata to Showcase These Models As Well

In addition to the Harrier EV Concept, the first-ever Bharat Mobility Global Expo will also see Tata Motors exhibit future-ready technologies, 10 commercial vehicles, and 7 other passenger vehicles, including the Nexon i-CNG Concept, Safari Dark Concept, Curvv Concept, Altroz Racer Concept, Tata Safari, Nexon.ev Dark Show Car, and the Punch.ev. Speaking of EVs, Tata recently launched the electric derivative of the Punch SUV in the country, with prices ranging from Rs 10.99 lakh for the entry-level version to Rs 14.49 lakh for the top-spec version. All prices are ex-showroom.
