Here’s a detailed comparison between the newly introduced darker iterations of the Tata Curvv and the Citroen Basalt. The dark variants are based on the top-spec versions of these popular SUV Coupes.
Following the trend of blacked-out variants, Tata Motors and Citroen have launched Dark Editions of their respective models—the Curvv and the Basalt—in India. Both models are primarily aesthetic upgrades, offering a more aggressive, dark-themed alternative to the standard versions. The Basalt Dark Edition commands a premium of up to Rs 23,000, adding stealthy black cosmetic enhancements inside and out. The Curvv Dark Edition, on the other hand, is priced Rs 32,000 higher than its regular counterpart. Here’s a detailed comparison between the darker iterations of the Tata Curvv and the Citroen Basalt.
While both the Tata Curvv and the Citroen Basalt offer a darkened appearance in their respective Dark Editions, they have unique styles. The Curvv has adopted a complete blackout look with its ‘Carbon Black’ paint, black bumpers, and 18-inch dark aero-insert alloys. It also features ‘#DARK’ fender badges.

On the other hand, the Basalt, finished in a ‘Perla Nera’ black shade, incorporates blacked-out elements and dark chrome accents, complemented by subtle red inserts. The car also adds a bold edge with black door handles, side cladding, and exclusive "Dark Edition" badging. Without straying from their fundamental design, both SUV-coupes gain subtle enhancements that give them a more stealthy and aggressive presence.
Inside, the Tata Curvv Dark Edition continues the dark theme with black leatherette upholstery featuring 'Dark' crests and a black dashboard. The cabin further benefits from rear sunshades. In comparison, the Citroen Basalt Dark Edition has an entirely black interior with red-stitched leatherette seats displaying 'Dark Edition' and 'Citroen' branding on the seatbelts, contrasted by silver inserts on the dashboard. Despite the dark treatment, the layout of the dashboard stays the same.
The Tata Curvv Dark Edition packs a host of premium features like a panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, JBL audio system, ventilated front seats, and wireless charging. It also includes safety tech such as 6 airbags, TPMS, 360-degree camera, and level-2 ADAS.
Meanwhile, the Citroen Basalt offers a 10.2-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and auto climate control with rear AC vents. It comes with 6 airbags, TPMS, and a rear parking camera, but lacks advanced driver assistance features.
The Curvv Dark Edition offers more options, with a 1.2-litre T-GDi turbo-petrol (123bhp/225Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (116bhp/260Nm). Transmission options for both engines include a 6-speed manual and a more advanced 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Basalt Dark Edition is offered with a single 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 108bhp and up to 205Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
The Dark iterations of the Curvv and Basalt are based on their respective top trims. Pricing stands at Rs 16.49 and Rs 19.20 lakh for the Tata Curvv Dark, while the blacked-out Basalt sells between Rs 12.80 and Rs 14.10 lakh.
