Tata Motors has finally unveiled the exterior of the much anticipated Curvv ahead of its launch in August, following a plethora of spy photos and teasers. The SUV Coupe will be offered in both ICE and EV versions. It will compete directly with the Citroen Basalt, which is also scheduled to go on sale in India in August. While the interior details, mechanical specifications, and features of these two vehicles are still under wraps, the exterior details are now available. Here, we compare these two upcoming SUV Coupes to see which one of the two is better suited for you.
Tata Curvv vs Citroen Basalt: Design
The Tata Curvv is equipped with a linked LED DRL strip with sequential turn indicators and other contemporary design components at the front. With numerous horizontal features integrated into the grille area, it has a refined and sophisticated appearance. In contrast, the Citroen Basalt features a two-part grille, projector headlights, LED DRLs, and the chrome-lined Chevron logo at the front. It has halogen headlights and fog lamps, unlike the Curvv's LED setup. While both cars have a sloping roofline, the Basalt's roof curves into the boot, merging into the boot lip. The roofline of the Tata Curvv, on the other hand, slopes at the rear, creating a sharp angular edge.

The Curvv has flush door handles, whereas the Basalt has retro flap door handles. Both models, however, have a gloss-black coating on the wheel arches. The Basalt is equipped with all-black alloy wheels, but the Curvv has petal-shaped dual-tone alloy wheels.
The Curvv's taillights are more streamlined than those of its French rival. It has a connected LED bar, featuring welcome and farewell animations, and sequential turn indicators. In contrast, the Basalt features wraparound LED taillights, which seem more traditional. A robust bumper cladding and the Chevron badging with the Basalt logo at the centre of the boot complete the vehicle's more straightforward rear look.
Tata Curvv vs Citroen Basalt: Mechanical Specs
Although the official powertrain specifications are currently unknown, the Currv is expected to be available with two engine options: a 1.5-litre diesel unit and a 1.2-litre GDi turbo petrol engine. The Basalt, in contrast, will likely use the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine as the C3 Aircross. The former (Curvv) may get six-speed MT, six-speed AT, and seven-speed DCT as gearbox options. The latter, on the other hand, is expected to employ either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic for transmission.
