Tata Curvv CNG to Join Electric and ICE Variants Soon; Check Details

Tata Motors launched the Curvv EV in India last week, with prices ranging between Rs 17.49 lakh to Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV Coupe will also be available in both petrol and diesel variants starting September 2, 2024. While the company has not officially confirmed, industry reports indicate that a CNG version of the Curvv is in the pipeline. At the electric Curvv's introduction, the company's officials highlighted that their first mass-market SUV Coupe has been built to accommodate a variety of powertrains, including CNG. While there is no clear launch date, the CNG variant is 'under active consideration'.

The exact powertrain is unknown at this time, but the upcoming version will likely feature the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which propels the Nexon and its CNG concept. This engine generates 118bhp and 170Nm in petrol mode. Aside from minor powertrain-specific design tweaks, the SUV Coupe's appearance will remain the same. Here are some details about the newly launched electric Currv in India.

The Curvv EV is offered in five different models: Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished+ S, Empowered+, and Empowered+A. It has two battery options: 45kWh and 55kWh, with ranges of 502 kilometres and 585 kilometres (MIDC), respectively. While the latter is offered across the Empowered+, Empowered+ A, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ S versions, the former is accessible in the Creative, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ S variants. The EV's Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMS), which is liquid-cooled, generates 165bhp in the 55kWh model and 148bhp in the 45-kWh version. In both units, the torque of 215Nm remains the same.

In terms of features, the Curvv EV has a dual-tone dashboard, a 12.3-inch free-floating infotainment system, a touch-enabled AC panel, a drive mode selector, front ventillated seats, auto-dimming IRVM (inside rearview mirrors), and a wireless phone charger. It is fitted with six airbags, electronic stability control, an electronic stability program, all-wheel disc brakes, and Level 2 ADAS for safety.

For those unaware, bookings for the electric Curvv are now underway for Rs 21,000, with deliveries set to begin at the end of this month.
