Tata Motors has updated its premium hatchback in India – the Altroz. The Indian carmaker has axed 8 trims in the Altroz's line-up, including XZ Plus Petrol, XZ Plus Petrol Dark Edition, XZ Plus i-Turbo, XZ Plus i-Turbo Petrol Dark Edition, XZA Plus Petrol, XZA Plus Petrol Dark Edition, XZ Plus Diesel, and XZ Plus Diesel Dark Edition. In addition, the company has also added new features to the petrol manual variants of the Altroz – rear power windows and remote keyless entry as standard. With this addition, the base XE trim now gets follow me home headlamps along with the abovementioned features, while the mid-spec XM+ and XM+(S) are now armed with a reverse camera, cruise control, and driver seat height adjuster. The Altroz XT features a rear defogger, 16-inch Hyperstyle wheels, as well as a height-adjustable driver seat.

The Altroz is the first Tata vehicle to be built on the ALFA platform, which also serves as the foundation for the Punch. In the Indian market, the Altrox carries a starting price of Rs 6.60 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.74 lakh (ex-showroom). As for its colour palette, the hatchback comes in High Street Gold, Avenue White, Arcade Grey, Opera Blue, Downtown Red, Harbour Blue, and Cosmo Black (Dark edition) options.
Tata Altroz New Variants Launched in India
A couple of days back, Tata Motors launched two new mid-spec variants of the Altroz in the country – XM and XM(S). The XM is priced at Rs 6.90 lakh, whereas the XM (S) variant stands at Rs 7.35 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The new XM and XM (S) sit between the base Altroz XE and the upper XM+ trims.
The Altroz XM can be had with steering-mounted controls, a height-adjustable driver seat, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, R16 complete wheel covers, and an upscale dashboard. On the other hand, the XM(S) comes with the same features, along with an electric sunroof.
Tata Altroz: Powertrain & Performance
The Tata Altroz is currently offered in petrol, diesel, and CNG options. A 1.2-litre petrol unit makes 87bhp and 115Nm of torque, whereas a 1.5-litre diesel engine pumps out 89bhp and 200Nm. In the CNG mode, the hatchback delivers 77bhp and 103Nm of torque. Transmission duties are carried out by a 5-speed manual as well as a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Upcoming Tata Harrier EV in India
The electric derivative of the Tata Harrier is anticipated to make its India entry sometime in 2024. Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023, the concept version of the EV featured a blocked-off grille, an updated bumper, split headlamps with a newly created LED light bar, a blackened housing, and geometric creases. Industry reports suggest that the future Harrier EV in production specification will maintain the concept's appearance.
