Tata Motors is set to launch its upcoming Altroz Racer, the sportier version of the Altroz, on June 7 in India. The bookings for the Altroz Racer are now open. Compared to its standard counterpart, the new Tata Altroz Racer gets distinctive styling, a more powerful engine, as well as updated features and equipment.
Styling-wise, the Tata Altroz Racer stands out with its dual-tone paint scheme with sporty decals and blacked-out elements, although the overall silhouette remains unchanged. Potential buyers can choose from three dual-tone exterior colour options –Atomic Orange, Avenue White, and Pure Grey, all three with a contrasting black finish on the roof and bonnet. Inside, the all-black finish on the dashboard is contrasted with orange highlights on the steering wheel, AC vents, seats, and gear console. The contrast continues with the orange-coloured ambient lighting.

Tata Altroz Racer: Variants, Features
According to a leaked brochure, the Tata Altroz Racer will be offered in three variants – R1, R2, and R3. In comparison to the top-spec Altroz XZ+, the Altroz Racer R1 features a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a sportier exhaust, and four additional airbags. Other bits include a 4.0-inch semi-analogue instrument cluster, projector headlamps, automatic climate control, cruise control, fog lamps, and leatherette upholstery.
Opt for the R2 variant and the Altroz Racer adds a voice-activated electric sunroof, 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera and blind spot monitor, not to mention wireless charging. The fully loaded R3 adds ventilated front seats, connected car tech, and an air purifier.
Tata Altroz Racer: Powertrain
Under the hood, the performance-oriented version of the hatchback, the Altroz Racer, will get a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which also powers the Tata Nexon. The engine in the latter churns out 118bhp at 5,500rpm and 170Nm of peak torque at 1,750rpm to 4,000rpm. For the Altroz Racer, a 6-speed manual transmission will be only available with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Price-wise, the Altroz Racer will likely slot above the Tata Altroz XZ iTurbo, which ranges from Rs 9.20 lakh to Rs 10.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Racer will have a direct rival in the form of the Hyundai i20 N Line.
