The new hot-hatch from Tata Motors has finally been launched and carries a price tag of Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to the standard petrol model, it is Rs 60,000 more expensive.
Indian manufacturer Tata Motors has finally launched the new turbocharged variant of its Altroz hatchback. Its prices have also been revealed – the introductory price offer starts at Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant XT i-Turbo variant. The top of the line XZ+ i-Turbo has been priced at Rs 8.86 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the XT variant of the standard car costs Rs 7.74 lakh, and the XZ+ demands Rs 8.26 lakh.
The new iTurbo comes with a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine, which produces 108bhp and 140Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Altroz iTurbo also has a respectable 0 – 100km/h sprint time of 11.9 seconds.
The exterior design remains the same, but a new marine blue paint scheme is on offer now, and a dual paint scheme is standard on the higher variants. The interior is also identical, but the top of the line XZ+ trim comes with leatherette seats, as well as amazing sound system, thanks to the eight Harmon Kardon speakers. It also comes with iRA connected car tech.
When compared to its rivals, the Tata Altroz iTurbo significantly undercuts them in terms of price. The top-end variant of the Altroz iTurbo is priced close to the base variants of the Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai i20. Tata Altroz is also a very safe car, which is quite evident from the fact it secured a 5-star crash-test rating at Global NCAP.
