Tata Motors has opened bookings for its premium hatchback, the Altroz iCNG, ahead of its launch in the Indian market. The launch is likely to take place shortly before the deliveries of the car commence in May this year. The booking amount of the Altroz iCNG is Rs 21,000. The hatchback will be available in 4 variants that include XE, XM+, XZ, and XZ+. The price of the Altroz CNG is expected to be Rs 90,000 more than that of its petrol manual counterpart, which is currently priced between Rs 6.45 lakh and Rs 9.10 lakh (ex-showroom). With the launch of the new Altroz CNG, it will become the third model in Tata's lineup to get a factory-fitted CNG kit. When launched, it is anticipated to take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Toyota Glanza CNG.
The biggest change will come in the boot space of the Tata Altroz iCNG. The premium hatchback will get twin cylinders mounted on the floorboard of the cargo area, Tata's first-ever twin-cylinder CNG technology in the country. Currently unavailable in other Tata CNG models, this new technology will help reduce the amount of luggage space and allow more storage space to keep luggage at the back. The combined capacity of the two cylinders is 60 litres.
