Suzuki to Launch Entry-Level Car for First-Time Buyers in India with Hybrid, CNG & Flex-Fuel Options
The launch date is yet to be confirmed, but Suzuki plans to introduce an entry-level car in India, focusing on attracting first-time car buyers with affordable options.

Suzuki, the Japanese parent company of Maruti Suzuki India, has outlined an ambitious growth plan for India in its Mid-Term Management strategy. The plan prioritises the swift development of entry-level vehicles tailored to meet the demands of budget-conscious buyers, delivering affordability while maintaining high standards of quality. The launch date is not confirmed yet, but the company plans to introduce an entry-level car in India aimed at individuals earning between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 13 lakh annually, with a special focus on attracting first-time car buyers.

The expected small car will come with different powertrain options, such as CNG, flex-fuel, and mild-hybrid, giving customers a variety of choices to suit their preferences. Although SUVs are gaining traction in the market, the demand for small, affordable cars in India continues to hold strong appeal in India, attracting a large number of first-time buyers and individuals looking for cost-efficient mobility solutions.
Maruti Suzuki is a leading automaker in India, renowned for its popular hatchbacks like the Alto, Celerio, and Wagon R. The Wagon R, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in India last year, was the top-selling car in January, with 24,078 units sold, an impressive 35.60% year-on-year growth from 17,756 units sold in January 2024. The hatch retails between Rs 5.64 lakh to Rs 7.47 lakh (ex-showroom), and is powered by a 1-litre naturally aspirated (N/A) engine.
Alongside the launch of an entry-level car, the company’s 2025-2030 mid-term plan highlights India’s critical role as a central market in its strategy. The objective is to scale up production to 4 million units annually, meeting the rising demand in India, while transforming the country into a pivotal hub for global exports.
