The Suzuki Jimny 5-door is likely to debut in India next year at the Auto Expo.
The Suzuki Jimny 5-door seems to be just around the corner. The car was recently spotted wearing a heavy disguise during its road tests. The car is expected to break cover later this year for global markets. While the short-wheelbase version of the car was revealed in India ahead of this, there has been no official announcement that either of the versions will arrive in our country.
Speculations suggest that the 5-door Jimny has grown in size as well. The car now measures 3,840mm in length as compared to the 3,470mm of the short-wheelbase version. The wheelbase is also stretched at 2,540mm from 2,240mm in the short-wheelbase version. Meanwhile, the width and height of the car are most likely to remain the same as the three-door version.
The company is also expected to upgrade the powertrain of the 5-door version. The car is expected to use a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will have hybridization. The earlier 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine was discontinued in the UK after it failed to meet the country’s emission norms.
On the inside, the car will come with an upgraded 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additionally, there will be an extra row of seats as expected that will lend more space. The company is most likely to debut the car in global markets later this year.
