SsangYong Tivoli spotted testing in India

Mahindra & Mahindra’s Korean sub-brand, SsangYong has been spied testing their new compact SUV, the SsangYong Tivoli in Chennai. The SsangYong Tivoli is expected to be launched in India soon, but Mahindra have exercised their right to remain silent regarding it.
The SsangYong Tivoli is currently on sale in European markets, but has been expected to arrive in India for quite some time. Mahindra has also displayed the Tivoli at their pavilion during the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida.
As far as engines go, the Tivoli is expected to get a 1.6-litre e-XGi160 petrol engine that develops 126bhp, in addition to a 122bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine. Transmission options which are expected to be offered are a 6-speed manual or an AISIN 6-speed automatic gearbox.
SsangYong offers the Tivoli with loads of safety features like seven airbags, ABS, ESP with hydraulic brake assist, active roll protection, hill start assist, and tyre pressure monitoring system. The steering can also be adjusted with three mode options – Normal, Comfort and Sport. The Tivoli also has automatic climate control, a 3.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sporty semi-bucket seats, a flat bottom steering wheel and more features.
In size, the Tivoli is 4,202mm long, 1,798mm wide and has a height of 1,590mm with a wheelbase of 2600mm. SsangYong equips the Tivoli with LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, and alloy wheels.
The Tivoli will be second SsangYong vehicle offered in India after the Rexton. The compact SUV is expected to be launched around the final quarter of 2016 and priced between Rs. 9-15 lakh ex-showroom. The Tivoli will be Mahindra’s offering in India that will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the S-Cross from Maruti Suzuki.
