Skoda reveals the VisionS concept design sketches, hinting at how its forthcoming six-seater SUV could look.
A six-seater SUV is currently in the works at Skoda, confirmed the manufacturer. The Czech auto maker has released a series of official design sketches of the concept it is based on, revealing few exterior details of the forthcoming SUV.
And we are happy to report that the sketch bears strong resemblance to a rendering of the vehicle created by us earlier, as you can see below.
Called the VisionS, the concept will be unveiled at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The concept will feature three rows of seats and will be considerably larger than the currently sold Yeti; the VisionS is 4.7 meters long, 1.91 meters and 1.68 meters high.
More than its stretched footprint though, it’s the design of the new SUV that’s going to win customers for Skoda. In comparison to the conservative looks of the Yeti, the VisionS features Skoda’s new-age design ethos. Some of the highlights include a wide grille, high-set LED headlights, side air-intakes, angular wheel arches, sharper creases, sloping roofline, etc.
Although Skoda has not revealed any other information about the SUV, it is expected to be christened the Kodiak. It will be based around Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and is expected to come powered by the same engine options as available in the all-new Superb (yet to be launched in India).
More details will emerge once the concept makes it to the Geneva Motor Show in March this year. The forthcoming Skoda SUV will be launched in India after it goes on sale in Europe. Competition here will include the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V etc.
