The Vision IN Concept represents the forerunner to Skoda's upcoming compact SUV for India and will debut at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo.
Last month, Skoda gave us the first glimpse of its Vision IN SUV Concept study by revealing a design sketch of the car's interior. Now, Skoda has taken the next step and has revealed the Vision IN's exterior design sketches.
First impressions? Straight off the bat, the Vision IN looks very butch and rugged, courtesy of a wide & contoured bonnet and a large signature Skoda grille with solid ribs. In fact, it seems the Vision IN Concept is all about big proportions, despite its compact SUV tag – a fact reiterated by the 4.26m-long SUV's front fascia. A robust-looking front apron with large side air-intakes and a massive aluminium front spoiler give the Vision IN Concept an imposing look. The split headlamp concept follows a very compact & minimal design approach.
The second sketch gives us an idea of the Vision IN's rear design. While the sharp, 3D taillights & Skoda lettering (illuminated on the Vision IN) are a signature Skoda design element, the additional horizontal light strip connecting the reflectors gives the design more depth. Like the front spoiler, the rear diffuser also seems to be fully aluminium.
The Vision IN-based mid-size SUV will be the first model based on the India-specific MQB AO IN modular transverse matrix and is likely to be an adaptation of the existing Kamiq SUV sold abroad. Set to enter production in 2020, expect Skoda to launch the new compact SUV within this year.
