Skoda's third-generation Superb sedan, brought to India as a CBU (completely built unit) in April 2024, is currently being offered with massive benefits of up to Rs 18 lakh, thanks to some excess inventory at select dealerships. That includes cash discounts and insurance benefits, bringing the effective price of the Skoda Superb down to around Rs 36 lakh from Rs 54 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). While the existing Superb was launched in a limited run of 100 units, some unsold vehicles are still available for purchase. Note that the discounts shall be valid for a limited period and vary depending on the availability.

Skoda offers the sedan in a single, fully loaded L&K variant. At Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom), the CBU Super is similarly priced to the locally assembled unit, which Skoda discontinued in April 2023 due to the stricter BS6 Phase II emissions norms. Over the locally assembled model, the current Skoda Superb adds park assist (with a 360-degree camera), dynamic chassis control, an active tyre pressure monitoring system, and nine airbags. The last three are standard equipment. The Superb also gets a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as an ADAS suite with features such as adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

Skoda Superb: Powertrain, Rivals

Under the hood, the Skoda Superb has a BS6 Phase II-compliant, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The engine is tuned to produce 187bhp and 320Nm of peak torque, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds.

The Superb directly rivals the Toyota Camry (Rs 48 lakh, ex-showroom) in the segment. Speaking of, Toyota launched the ninth-generation Camry sedan in early December in India. The new Camry is based on the TNGA-K platform and features a petrol-hybrid powertrain—a 2.5-litre petrol engine with Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid System. The setup is capable of making a combined 227bhp. Fuel efficiency is ARAI-certified 25.49km/l.

Skoda is also working toward expanding its India portfolio by bringing in the new Kodiaq SUV, which is anticipated to launch in mid-2025. The Kodiaq will adopt the company's 'Modern Solid' design language and have more interior space. The same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine will continue though.
