Skoda's online buying portal, introduced earlier this year for the bookings of the Octavia RS 245, now offers to book the Superb facelift, Karoq and the Rapid 1.0 TSI as well.
We recently had a chat with Mr Zac Hollis, Brand Director - Skoda Auto India, about Skoda's 'India 2.0' project plans and whether the ongoing lockdown will in any way delay the launch of its new products during this and the next year. While Mr Hollis assured us that the plans are on track as of now, he did hint at the launch of the three new products planned for this year (Superb facelift, Karoq and the Rapid 1.0 TSI) in quick succession.
And today, Skoda Auto India has officially started accepting bookings for the Superb facelift via its online buying platform - https://www.buyskodaonline.co.in/. Bookings for the Superb facelift, like the Karoq, are open at ₹50,000. The bookings for the Karoq & Rapid 1.0 TSI had begun in March and deliveries were expected to begin in April (for the Rapid) and in May for the Karoq (pre-lockdown scenario). Expect Skoda Auto India to launch these three vehicles within a few days of the lockdown coming to an end.
As we've been reporting for quite some time now, all VW Group companies in India, for the time being, will rely purely on petrol-powered model portfolios in the new BS-VI era. Therefore, the Superb facelift will be available only with a 2.0-litre TSI motor, mated to the old 7-speed DSG gearbox. It'll have two variants on offer - the Sportline (lead image) and the luxury-spec Laurin & Klement (L&K).
