The much anticipated Skoda Slavia sedan has been revealed in its final, production-ready form. While a lot of information about the Rapid's successor, which includes the trim and powertrain options, has been revealed, a final launch date is yet to be confirmed – although Skoda says the launch could take place within the first quarter of 2022.
Now, the Slavia comes across as a smart-looking notchback sedan, which takes its design inspiration from Skoda's current and newer models, like the Octavia. While the Slavia's design does not bowl you over, its practicality might, for the Slavia aims to impress you not by its visuals but by the space it offers.
Compared to the Rapid, the Slavia is longer by 128mm, wider by 53mm, taller by 21mm, and has a 99mm longer wheelbase. In fact, at 1,752mm wide and with a wheelbase that measures 2,651mm, the Slavia happens to be the widest in its class, with the longest wheelbase (when compared to rivals like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and VW Vento). So, expect the interior space and comfort levels of the Slavia to be class-leading. Plus, the Slavia also offers a 521-litre boot, which is also the largest in its segment.
Inside too, the Slavia borrows the overall design and quite a lot from its siblings. And same is the case in terms of the powertrain options. Like the Kushaq, the Slavia will go on sale with the brand's 1.0-litre three-cylinder and 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI engine options, which are good for 114bhp and 148bhp, respectively. Even the gearbox combinations will be the same – a six-speed manual will be standard, while a six-speed torque converter AT will be offered with the 1.0-litre unit and a seven-speed DSG with the 1.5 TSI.
At the time of launch, the Skoda Slavia will be offered in three trim levels – Active, Ambition, and Style – and up to five colour options (Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel, Crystal Blue, Candy White, and Tornado Red).
