Skoda has revealed its fastest series production Octavia ever - the Skoda Octavia RS. The Skoda Octavia RS celebrates its world debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed which starts on July 10th this year.
Shown in both sedan and combi body styles, the 3rd generation Octavia RS will be offered with a 220 bhp 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine and the 184 bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesel powertrain.
The engines are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, which powers the Octavia RS TSI from a standstill to 100km/h in 6.8 seconds and, hits a top speed of 248 km/h. The TDI variant on the other hand needs 8.1 seconds to go from 0-100km/h and achieves a top speed of 232 km/h. Skoda is offering an optional six-speed DSG but they haven't released performance figures for this configuration yet.
The new Skoda Octavia RS lineup comes with a sports suspension and a 12mm (13mm for the Combi) lowered ride height. Electronic differential lock (XDS) built into the electronic stability control (ESC) for better traction and less understeer during high-speed cornering also come as standard equipment.
Skoda CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland said, “Our latest model stands for horsepower and fuel efficiency and, at the same time, for emotion and rationality. Never before has an Octavia RS been so fast and dynamic and yet so spacious, convenient, safe and comfortable as the third generation of our compact sports car.”
The Skoda Octavia RS does look more aggressive because of the revised front grille and the honeycomb air intakes and there is no doubt in our mind that this sedan is a force to be reckoned with.
