With the mid-size sedan segment experiencing heated competition from the updated Ciaz and new Hyundai Verna and Toyota Yaris, Skoda brings in its spruced up Rapid Onyx to join the party.
Skoda has once again given its Rapid mid-size sedan a new lease of life by introducing another spruced up variant of the car, badged as the Onyx. With a host of additional equipment over the standard car, the Skoda Rapid Onyx aims to get the attention of the mid-size sedan buyer as the segment sees increasing competition from new models such as the Toyota Yaris whilst the bestselling model, Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz has just got a mid-cycle face-lift.
So, with its latest update, the Rapid Onyx has been given a few cosmetic updates that give it gloss black b-pillars, blacked out ORVM casings, new black 16-inch alloy wheels with black wheel nuts, black door mouldings and a black trunk lip garnish. To make the Rapid Onyx more exclusive, it is being made available with a choice of two paint shades, namely, Candy White and an exclusive Lapiz Blue hue.
The interiors have been given a once over as well with a new flat bottomed leather wrapped steering wheel, perforated leatherette upholstery, a 6.5-inch infotainment system with SmartLink and a rear window blind.
The Skoda Rapid Onyx is being offered in both 1.6 petrol and 1.5 diesel models and across manual and gearbox options for both engines. Prices for the Rapid Onyx range between Rs. 9.75 lakh for the petrol manual to Rs. 12.73 lakh for the diesel DSG automatic (ex-showroom pan India).
