Skoda has officially opened the bookings for the Kylaq compact SUV across India. The base-spec variant is priced at Rs 7.89 lakh, while the top-of-the-line variant costs Rs 14.40 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). The Kylaq is the Czech automaker's third model tailored for the Indian market, following the Kushaq and Slavia, and is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform designed specifically for India. It offers a mix of modern features and practical performance. With competitive pricing, the Kylaq aims to attract a broad customer base providing a spacious interior, advanced infotainment options, and an efficient engine option. Notably, the first 33,333 customers will receive a complimentary 3-year Standard Maintenance Package, resulting in an estimated maintenance cost of just Rs 0.24/km. The deliveries for the model are scheduled to commence on January 27, 2025.

Skoda Kylaq: Powertrain
The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which generates 114bhp of maximum power and 178Nm of peak torque. It offers a choice between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Skoda claims the Kylaq can reach a top speed of 188km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 10.5 seconds with the manual gearbox. The same engine is offered in all four variants – Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige.
Skoda Kylaq: Design and Dimensions
The latest offering embraces Skoda’s 'Modern Solid' design language, featuring the distinctive butterfly grille finished in piano black. It is complemented by a split lighting setup, with slim LED DRLs at the top and projector LED headlights positioned in the bumper below. Though it shares design elements with the Kushaq, the Kylaq appears somewhat more compact. Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, it is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels. Customers can choose from six colour options: Carbon Steel, Candy White, Olive Gold, Lava Blue, Tornado Red, and Brilliant Silver.
In terms of size, the Kylaq is 230mm shorter than the Kushaq, with a length of 3,995mm, width of 1,783mm, and height of 1,619mm. Its wheelbase is 2,566mm, which is 85mm shorter than the Kushaq, while the ground clearance stands at 189mm.
Skoda Kylaq: Interior
The Kylaq's cabin, similar to the Kushaq and Slavia, is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital display for the instrument cluster, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, and six-way power-adjustable front seats. It also features a single-pane sunroof and modern connected car technology. Additional interior comforts include leatherette seats, keyless entry, ambient lighting, a six-speaker Canton sound system, a cooled glovebox, and cupholders.

In terms of safety, the car offers more than 25 features, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Distribution, three-point seatbelts, Roll Over Protection, Motor Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, passenger airbag deactivation, Multi-Collision Braking, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The Kylaq enters the crowded compact SUV segment, competing with popular models such as the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue.
