Skoda Kylaq Spotted Testing Ahead of Global Debut; Shows Blacked Out Alloy Wheels, Silver Roof Rails, and More

New spy images of the upcoming Skoda Kylaq have appeared online, giving us a sneak peek at how the SUV will look from the side and rear. The test mule is completely camouflaged, but we can tell that it has blacked-out alloy wheels and silver roof rails. Moreover, the taillights seem to have an inverted L shape. Other potential details include split headlamps and a more distinctive grille with vertical slats. While the price is still unknown, Skoda revealed some important details about the SUV ahead of its global launch on November 6. The upcoming car is 3,995mm long, with a wheelbase of 2,566mm, and a ground clearance of 189mm. It has more than 25 active and passive safety features, including passenger airbag de-activation, multi-collision braking, six airbags, traction and stability control, roll-over protection, motor slip regulation, ABS with EBD, brake disc wiping, and electronic differential lock.

Skoda Kylaq: Powertrain

The Kylaq is confirmed to have a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that develops a peak power output of 114bhp and a maximum torque of 178Nm. This unit can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter. As a part of Skoda's strategy, the new SUV will have an MQB A0-IN platform, which also underpins cars such as the Slavia, Taigun, and Kushaq.

Skoda Kylaq: Features

The interior details are currently unknown. Market reports, however, suggest that Skoda's upcoming sub-4m SUV will have a single-pane sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, an 8-inch digital driver's display, three-point seat belts and reminders, automatic air conditioning with rear vents, USB Type-C charging ports, leatherette upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, an air purifier, and six-way adjustable ventillated front seats.

Skoda Kylaq: Expected Price

The Skoda Kylaq is likely to cost between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 14 lakh (both, ex-showroom). It will compete against the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, the Tata Nexon, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, and the Hyundai Venue.
