Skoda Kylaq Gets 5-star Crash Test Safety Rating from Bharat NCAP: Watch Video

The Skoda Kylaq scored well in Bharat NCAP tests, offering good protection for the head, abdomen, and chest, with adequate protection for the driver’s chest and lower leg.

Skoda Kylaq has earned a five-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests for both adult and child protection. This marks the first time Skoda has had a model tested by BNCAP in India. The top-spec Prestige MT variant scored 30.38 points for adult safety and 45.00 points for child safety. These ratings apply to all variants of the Kylaq, giving customers confidence in its safety. The Kylaq is priced between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom) and joins the Kushaq and Slavia as Skoda's third model specifically made for the Indian market and all three are built on the MQB-A0-IN platform.

The Kylaq comes with over 25 safety features as standard, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Distribution, Roll Over Protection, Motor Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, Multi-Collision Braking , and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Mahindra XUV 3XO Crash Test Results

The Skoda Kylaq delivered good protection in the frontal offset barrier test, with adequate protection for the driver's chest and lower leg. In the side movable barrier test, it provided good protection for the head and abdomen and adequate protection for the chest. The Kylaq also performed well in the side pole impact test.

In dynamic testing with child restraint systems, the Kylaq achieved a perfect score of 24/24 for dynamic performance, 12/12 for CRS installation, and 9/13 for vehicle assessment.

Skoda Kylaq: Powertrain

The Skoda Kylaq comes with a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. It offers a choice between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. With the manual gearbox, the Kylaq can reach a top speed of 188km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 10.5 seconds.

This engine is available across all four variants of the Kylaq – Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige. The 1.0-litre TSI engine provides a good balance of power and fuel efficiency, making it a strong option in its segment.

Skoda Kylaq: Interior

The Skoda Kylaq features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with an 8-inch digital display for the instrument cluster. It also offers wireless charging, ventilated front seats, and six-way power-adjustable front seats. The cabin also includes a single-pane sunroof and connected car technology.

Additional features in the Kylaq include leatherette seats, keyless entry, ambient lighting, a six-speaker Canton sound system, a cooled glovebox, and cupholders. These elements provide a practical and comfortable driving experience.

Skoda Kylaq: Design 

The Skoda Kylaq follows the brand's 'Modern Solid' design, with a butterfly grille in piano black. It features a split lighting setup, including slim LED DRLs at the top and projector LED headlights in the bumper. While it shares design elements with the Kushaq, the Kylaq has a more compact look. Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, it comes with 17-inch alloy wheels. Customers can choose from six colors: Carbon Steel, Candy White, Olive Gold, Lava Blue, Tornado Red, and Brilliant Silver.

The Kylaq measures 3,995mm in length, 1,783mm in width, and 1,619mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,566mm, slightly shorter than the Kushaq, providing a more agile driving experience while maintaining good interior space. The SUV also offers a ground clearance of 189mm, suitable for Indian road conditions.

The Kylaq competes in the compact SUV segment against models like the Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue.
