The Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda has launched the new Matte Edition of the Kushaq SUV in the Indian market. Prospective buyers have to shell out at least Rs 16.19 lakh for the entry-level 1.0 TSI Manual. While the top-spec 1.5 TSI Automatic carries a sticker price of Rs 19.39 lakh. As for the other two versions, the pricing for the 1.0 TSI Automatic and the 1.5 TSI Manual stands at Rs 17.79 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom. According to the manufacturer, the Kushaq Matte Edition is a limited-run model from the house of Skoda, which will be available in 500 units. The Kushaq is Skoda's first SUV to debut under the VW Group's 'India 2.0' project in 2021. The compact SUV is based on the MQB A0 IN platform, suggesting that the brand has Indianised the SUV. This means that the SUV is heavily localised, which in turn indicates lower service & ownership costs and competitive pricing.
Launched in 2021, the Kushaq will soon complete two years in the Indian market. On the occasion of the launch, Petr Solc, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, "We have been constantly making updates and adding value to the car based on customer feedback. The Matte Edition is the latest in this endeavour where we are offering an enhanced, matte aesthetic for discerning customers, along with distinct styling enhancements. We look forward to welcoming more customers into the Škoda family with the Kushaq Matte Edition, and further build our SUV expertise, with superior driving dynamics and safety that comes standard with a Kushaq."
