Skoda's premium family hauler is getting the sporty RS DNA.
Skoda has officially teased the upcoming Kodiaq RS, which will be the first high-riding vehicle from the Czech carmaker to wear the performance-oriented RS badge.
While the teaser image does not reveal much, except for the DRLs, which it shares with the standard model, the accompanying caption containing the words ‘Right now, it’s getting familiar with the testing road at Nurburgring!’ makes everything quite clear.
The Kodiaq RS’ development has been up in the rumour mill for quite some time now, and after this teaser, it is speculated that the performance SUV will be out in all its glory at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
If reports are to be believed, the Kodiaq RS won’t be as hardcore as the Octavia RS because it won’t use a free revving petrol engine, instead it will adopt the 2.0-litre bi-turbo TDI that powers the top-end variants of the Passat and Tiguan in Europe. This motor is good for developing 237 horsepower and a healthy 500Nm of torque.
In line with other RS models, the Kodiaq RS will surely look more aggressive thanks to a new body kit featuring side skirts and new bumpers. Obviously, the wheel size will be larger as well. On the inside, jet black cabin with contrast red stitching, sport seats, etc. are expected to be standard.
While this is a very early teaser, we’re positive that Skoda will drop more of them as the car’s dynamic debut approaches near. So, stay tuned . . .
