More than a year after revealing the second-generation Kodiaq SUV, Skoda Auto has brought out the sportier version of the SUV named the RS. The new Kodiaq RS generates more power and torque – 60bhp and 80Nm – than the standard model; however, it uses the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The turbocharged engine is tuned to produce 261bhp and 400Nm of peak torque in the RS while coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive tech. According to Skoda, the sportier iteration reaches 100km/h in 6.3 seconds (6.4 seconds for the seven-seat model), making it the quickest Kodiaq to date. The top speed is marked at 231km/h.
Progressive steering, DCC (dynamic chassis control) Plus, and seven driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow, and Off-Road) are standard equipment. The company's DCC Plus adaptive suspension system offers 15 drive settings and damper adjustment. Stopping power comes from ventilated brake discs on all four wheels. Also available are two-piston brake callipers on the front axle.
