The latest Skoda Kodiaq and Superb model generations have just received the highest possible five-star rating in yet another round of testing conducted by Euro NCAP, the primary independent programme for assessing car safety in Europe. Commenting on this feat, Johannes Neft, Skoda Auto Board Member for Technical Development said, 'The safety of our customers and all other road users is our top priority. Therefore, we are delighted to receive five‑star ratings for the second-generation Škoda Kodiaq and fourth‑generation Škoda Superb in the Euro NCAP test. We are particularly proud of our strong results for Adult and Child Occupant protection. The fact that we have extended our successful record of five‑star evaluations for our vehicles even after the more stringent test parameters were introduced in 2023 confirms our clear commitment to the highest safety standards.'
Skoda Kodiaq, Superb: Euro NCAP Crash Test Ratings
The Kodiaq SUV scored 89% in the category of adult protection, 83% in the category of child protection, 82% in the category for protection of vulnerable road users including cyclists and pedestrians, and 78% in the category of safety assistance systems. Meanwhile, the fourth-generation Superb notably earned an impressive rating of 93% for adult protection, 87% for child protection, and 82% for protection of vulnerable road users. Moreover, the sedan received an 80% rating in safety assistance systems.

Skoda Kodiaq, Superb: Interior and Safety Features
According to Skoda, both models are equipped with an extensive array of cutting-edge features, actively assisting in preventing or minimising collisions by warning the driver in various situations. These features include Front Assist with predictive pedestrian and cyclist protection, Side Assist including rear traffic alert, as well as Collision Avoidance Assist, Turn Assist, Crossroad Assist, and Exit Warning. Travel Assist actively helps the driver in controlling the car longitudinally and laterally. In addition to adaptive cruise control (ACC), it offers Emergency Assist, Crew Protect Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, and Adaptive Lane Assist with roadworks recognition.
The brand claims that the efficacy of assistance systems like Front Assist and Crossroad Assist is further improved by new nano radar sensors installed in the front apron's left and right corners. Moreover, the range of the Side Assist is extended by the nano radar sensors in the back apron. The updated Attention and Drowsiness Assist keeps an eye on how drivers behave, determines how tired they may be, and, if needed, activates auditory and visual alerts in the Virtual Cockpit.

Skoda Kodiaq, Superb: Powertrain Options
The 2024 Kodiaq comes with a host of powertrain choices, including the 1.5-litre TSI petrol mill paired with mild hybrid technology that claims to offer 148bhp, a 2.0-litre TSI unit with an all-wheel drive setup that delivers 201bhp, a 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with power outputs of 151bhp and 201bhp, respectively. Also on offer is a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 1.5-litre TSI engine coupled to an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 201bhp.
As for the Superb, Skoda provides the latest-generation model in petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid versions. The petrol mill is offered in two states of tune, delivering 201bhp and 261bhp. The diesel unit also has two different power outputs: 148bhp and 190bhp. An automatic DSG gearbox with seven speeds is standard on all variants.
