Skoda Auto India will increase the prices of their entire model range from January 2018.
As of January 1, 2017, the entire Skoda India’s product line up will go through a price revision. Skoda India has announced that a price increase of 2%-3% across their entire model range will reflect depending on the product and variant. Skoda has stated that the price revision is a result of changing market conditions and various external economic factors.
Traditionally, most manufacturers revise the prices of their offerings in India around the new calendar year. Skoda is the first automaker to announce their price revision this year. We also expect other manufacturers to also announce their price adjustments soon.
Currently, Skoda Auto India sells the Rapid, Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq models in India. The Czech manufacturer is also expected to introduce the Karoq SUV in India which is the replacement for the Yeti, globally.
In 2017, Skoda launched two new products in the Indian market. First was the, highly anticipated, performance version of Octavia – badged as the Octavia RS. Skoda had allotted a total of 250 units of the RS for the Indian market and was launched at a price of Rs. 24.6 lakh (ex-showroom). At that price, all 250 units are now sold out, while bookings for the RS are still pouring in. Skoda’s second launch this year was their flagship SUV, the Kodiaq which, like the Octavia RS, is brought in as a CBU. The Kodiaq was launched in a single fully loaded variant with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel motor for a price of Rs. 34.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kodiaq not only competes with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour but also overlaps into the luxury compact SUV market of the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class as well.
