The long wait for the name of Skoda's compact SUV will finally come to an end on August 21, 2024. While the official announcement is still pending, Skoda intends to name the upcoming car starting with the letter 'K', following in the footsteps of its two SUVs, the Kushaq and Kodiaq. The company has shortlisted names like Kariq, Kylaq, Kliq, Kyroq, and Kwiq from its 'Name Your Skoda' campaign, which was conducted to crowdsource name suggestions from the public. Although many details about the compact SUV are still unknown, the first official teasers revealed some of its elements such as split LED headlamps, muscular bonnet, and upright rear end. Skoda Compact SUV: Platform and Engine
The upcoming SUV will be built on the MQB A0-IN platform, which was developed exclusively for India. This platform is also used in cars such as the Slavia, the Taigun, and the Kushaq. Although Skoda has not made a formal announcement, the new model is expected to use the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine that powers the Slavia and Kushaq. This unit produces 114bhp and 175Nm paired with either a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT.
Skoda Compact SUV: Features
In terms of features, the SUV will likely be a well-equipped machine, with amenities such as a digital instrument cluster, steering wheel, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) controls, touchscreen Infotainment system options, LED lighting, cooled seats, and automatic climate control.

Skoda Compact SUV: Price and Competitors
Skoda claims that the compact SUV will offer the 'large vehicle' experience in a compact segment and, therefore, will have a great appeal for new car buyers'. While it is too early to comment on the price, the SUV is speculated to fetch somewhere between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with models such as the Mahindra XUV300, the Kia Sonet, the Tata Nexon, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and the Hyundai Venue. The Skoda SUV will make its way to South America, Southeast Asia, and Africa in addition to our market.
