Rolls-Royce will launch the Ghost and Wraith in Black Badge versions in India later this year.

By the end of 2016, Rolls Royce Motor Cars will launch the Black Badge line-up of the Rolls Royce Ghost and Rolls Royce Wraith in India. The Black Badge trim will get a small bump in power and special blackened design elements for both cars.

The engines in both cars remain the same – a 6.6-itre twin-turbo V12. But the Ghost gets a small power boost of 40bhp and increased torque of 60Nm. The engine in the Ghost Black Badge develops a total of 603bhp and 840Nm of torque. The Wraith however, only gets a torque boost of 70Nm, while power output remains the same at – 623bhp. Rolls Royce has also tinkered with the 8-speed automatic gearbox, which is now tuned to hold the revs longer in lower gears to provide better acceleration and performance from the cars.

The exterior of both, the Ghost and Wraith have received Rolls-Royce's iconic design elements being finished in black. The Spirit of Ecstasy, the large front grille, the Double-R logo at the front and rear in addition to the exhaust pipes, have all been given a glossy black finish. Keeping with the theme of black on black, the exterior paint is also fully black for both cars.

The cabin of the Rolls Royce Ghost and Wraith Black Badge have also received similar blackening treatment. The cabin is mainly finished in black leather trim, while the panels that would normally be finished in wood, are now finished in Carbonfirbe composite panels. The air-vents have also been blackened and both Black Badge cars will get analogue clocks bespoke to the line-up.

Rolls Royce recently launched the Rolls Royce Dawn, the convertible version of the Wraith coupe, in India. Introducing the Black Badge line-up, is Rolls Royce’s attempt to appeal to a younger portfolio of customers in the Indian market.
