After being first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show, the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II has been finally launched in India which is nothing but a much needed facelift of a car that was unveiled for the first time in 2009.

Rolls-Royce expanded its portfolio in India by adding the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II today to the current fleet. The new Ghost is nothing but some noticeable changes, on the outside as well as the inside, to the previous generation Ghost.

The ‘subtle’ changes include fresh new headlamps, a new bonnet, a front air intake with chrome lining, 21-inch alloy wheels with new colours and new bumpers on the outside. Series II is also smarter than the elder brother as it incorporates new and improved electronics and heating options. The instrument cluster looks more or less the same, but the car now comes with a 10-inch screen with a touchpad controller which works well in close collaboration with the upgraded infotainment system and the on-board Wi-Fi.

Under the hood is the same 6.6-litre V12 engine that produces 563bhp of maximum power and 780Nm of peak torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission, that changes the gears depending on the terrain ahead, makes sure that the power reaches the rear wheel in no time and the Ghost Series II crosses the 100kmph barrier from zero in just 4.8 seconds, and the top-speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.

India might not be a very important market for Rolls-Royce as we speak, but things are expected to change in the near future. With five dealerships across India and enough cars running on Indian roads, it’s evident that Rolls Royce is banking a lot on this market.

Sven Ritter, General Manager, Rolls-Royce, Asia Pacific said on the occasion of the launch, “We are bringing the car to India because there definitely is a demand and we want to fulfill it. People in India love our cars.”
