Rolls Royce, the producer of luxurious cars, recently unveiled a special edition of its most popular SUV, the Cullinan. This Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge is named "Blue Shadow" since it was designed with the Kármán Line in mind. For those unfamiliar, this is the suggested conventional border between Earth's atmosphere and outer space established by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) at a height of 62 miles (100km). To emphasise its exclusivity, the luxurious SUV will only be made in a small run of 62 units, all of which have already been sold. The Kármán Line is the boundary between the blue skies of Earth and the darkness of space. The Cullinan Blue Shadow's leather seats have a unique pattern made possible by the use of two different perforation sizes. These serve to anchor the pattern and are meant to symbolise the land, oceans, and clouds that can be seen sweeping over the Earth from 62 miles in the air.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Blue Shadow Edition: Design
The Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament is likewise customised for this limited run. With blue-tinted lacquer on top, it is made of titanium that was 3D printed. The Black Badge infinity logo and Blue Shadow moniker are etched on the base. The skilled workers inlay this portion in a colour called Charles Blue. The thermal tiles used on returning space shuttles served as inspiration for the satin-finished grille and bumper inserts.
Rolls-Royce Cullinan Blue Shadow Edition: Interior
The interior has a bottom-to-top colour change from black to blue to white on the dashboard and door panels. Rolls-Royce achieves this look by applying five different paint schemes over six layers. The blue and transparent glass particles in the top coat are mixed together.
This Cullinan also has a unique iteration of the brand's Starlight Headliner. Using five different hues of thread, it shows the moon in all its cratered glory. It will take you two days and 250,000 stitches to create the pattern. 799 of the LEDs are white, while 384 are blue.
Extraterrestrial touches are also added to the seats. The leather's perforations form a pattern reminiscent of Earth as seen from orbit. Over 75,000 small incisions are hand-drilled into every single seat. The tables in the rear feature an aluminium inlay and a glass sparkle finish that we call Piano Black.
