A new record has been set at the Nürburgring by the Rimac Nevera, an electric hypercar, outperforming the previous record set by the Tesla Model S Plaid Track Pack for the fastest production electric car lap time. The Rimac Nevera completed the lap at 7:05.298, earning the top spot in its category. The Tesla Model S Track Pack previously held the record with a lap time 7:25.231. The hypercar set an astonishing record by completing the Nurburgring course which measures 20.6 kilometres long. It outpaced the Tesla model by around 20 seconds by rolling on Michelin Cup2R tyres.
The record-breaking lap was driven by Croatian racing driver Martin Kodrik, and Rimac verified the time via independent timing data, TÜV SÜD, and onboard telemetry. According to Kodrik, despite the difficult weather conditions during practice sessions, he managed to break a lap record on one of the hottest days at the circuit this summer. To celebrate this achievement, the Croatian manufacturer introduced a limited-edition version of the Nevera called "Time Attack." The vehicle was unveiled at the Monterey Car Week in the United States. Let's watch how the hypercar obtained this impressive record lap time.
Rimac Nevera: What Martin Kodrik Said About this Achievement?
Commenting on the record-breaking lap, Kodrić explains: “We had challenging weather conditions during our practice sessions this week and have chosen what seems like one of the hottest days on the track this summer to set a lap time. However, a 7:05:298 lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife is commendable. The fact that the Nevera can achieve this kind of speed on the track when it’s been developed to be a comfortable hyperGT for the road, is what makes it so special.''
Rimac Nevera: Mechanical Specifications
The hypercar's mechanical specifics include four electric motors and a 120kWh battery that produces 1888bhp and 2,369Nm. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 1.81 seconds and claims a WLTP range of up to 490 kilometres.

While talking about the vehicle's latest achievement, Rimac Group Founder and CEO, Mate Rimac, said ''“In many ways the Nevera has reinvented the world of the hypercar, bringing new technologies, new abilities, and new levels of performance. But the simplest way we can demonstrate its capabilities is to go out and break records. And that’s exactly what we’ve done in 2023 time and again.''
