Renault showcased its new MPV, the Lodgy, at the glitzy Renault Star Guild Awards. Actor Anil Kapoor and Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations, unveiled the French car manufacturer's new people mover. Renault also announced that super star Hrithik Roshan is the first Indian to own this versatile MPV.
The Lodgy, like the Duster, is originally from the house of Dacia which was later re-branded as a Renault. It will be sharing a lot of interior parts from the Duster like the instrument panel, entertainment system, buttons on the dashboard, gear stick and the steering wheel. But its unique selling point will be its spacious cabin and three rows of seating for seven people.
Renault, at the moment, has not revealed engine specifications for the Lodgy, but expect the 85PS, 1.5-litre diesel, plonked under the hood. The more powerful 110PS diesel version could also be available, but it might be detuned to lesser power.
At the event, Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations said, “Innovation has been the hallmark of Renault throughout its 116 years of car-making history. For Renault, innovation means introducing features and services that are people centric, addressing real customer needs. The Renault Lodgy will redefine the segment as a complete ‘Multi-Purpose Vehicle’ and deliver best in segment performance, reconfirming Renault’s commitment to Drive the Change as we have done with Duster in the recent past”.
