Renault will build the next version of its Japanese partner Nissans Micra compact car in France in order to use the excess capacity at the plant there. The Micra compact car will be built at Renaults Flin plant, 40 kms from Paris, which has the capacity to build 82000 Micra's a year.

With production likely to start in 2016, Nissan said that the Micra built at Flins will be sold across European markets. Nissan, which is 43% owned by Renault, also said that the other plants are running at full capacity and do have space for this new model. The Renault-Nissan factory in Chennai will produce the current version of the Micra as well as the next generation of the model in 2016.
