Renault to launch the new Kwid hatchback tomorrow, here are some of the highlights of the car
Renault is all set to launch its new entry level hatchback, the Kwid in India. The company has stated that starting prices of the car will range between Rs. 3 – 4 lakh ex-showroom when the car is launched in the market. This places it bang in Maruti Alto 800 territory, which is the highest selling car in India and has been for years on end.
Bookings for the new Renault Kwid opened earlier in September 2015 for a sum of up to Rs. 25,000. Renault has even released a dedicated mobile app for the Kwid in an attempt to make a greater connect with younger buyers who will account for a large amount of the car’s customer base.
As a competitor to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Datsun Go, the Renault Kwid packs in an 800cc, three cylinder petrol engine developing 53bhp of max power and 72Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. And the car’s ARAI rated fuel efficiency figure is rated at 25.17 km/l. The fact that the Renault Kwid also weighs in at 660 kg in kerb weight also helps better fuel efficiency.
The new Renault Kwid will offer class leading interior space and will come with a few segment first features as well such as a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with satellite navigation. The large dimensions of the car are visible on the outside as well. Its 180mm ground clearance and black plastic cladding around the lower section of the car also add to the imposing presence of the car.
Stay tuned to autoX tomorrow as we bring you all the updates on the new Renault Kwid.
